Why We Struggle to Trust Ourselves After Spiritual Interference

Why We Struggle to Trust Ourselves After Spiritual Interference

July 08, 20267 min read

A statement from a recent client session stayed with me.

She never fully trusted herself again.

That sentence carried weight because it explained so much.

It was not that she lacked intuition. It was not that she was ungifted, naïve, or incapable of knowing the truth. Somewhere along the way, she had been deeply misled, and the experience shook her confidence.

I have worked as a spiritual healer for decades, and one of the trickiest areas to address is spiritual interference. It is not always obvious because we are dealing with the invisible. Most people have not been trained to recognize spiritual interference, much less clear it, understand it, or know what to do when something does not feel right.

Even spiritually sensitive people can be confused by it. They may feel something is off, but then question themselves. They may receive guidance, sense energy, or notice a shift in their body, emotions, or environment, but because it cannot always be proven through physical means, they dismiss it.

This is where the damage can begin.

Many people who have experienced spiritual interference were once deeply connected to their inner knowing. They trusted themselves. They followed their instincts. They could sense when something felt aligned or misaligned. Then something happened that caused them to doubt the very guidance they once relied upon.

Sometimes another person manipulated them. Sometimes a spiritual teacher, psychic, healer, or authority figure projects their own beliefs, fears, or limitations onto them. Sometimes they followed information or guidance that felt true at the time, only to later realize it had led them in an unaligned direction. Sometimes there was actual spiritual interference creating confusion, fear, distraction, or distortion.

And sometimes the experience was simply painful enough that they no longer wanted to risk being wrong again, which is the kind of wound that can run deep.

The original event may have lasted a short time or gone on for years. Either way, the effect can linger long after the situation itself is over. A person may begin second-guessing every decision. They may stop trusting their intuition. They may look outside themselves for answers they once found within. They may seek certainty before taking even one step forward. This is understandable, but it is also exhausting.

When someone no longer trusts themselves, they often try to control everything. They analyze every possibility. They prepare for every outcome. They search for confirmation, signs, answers, and reassurance. They may grasp at anything that gives them a sense of safety.

The problem is that intuition rarely works through force or control.

Divine guidance is often given moment by moment. It may not reveal the entire picture at once. It may only show the next step. To the logical mind, that can feel uncomfortable. We want guarantees. We want to know where everything is going. We want certainty before we move. But guidance does not always satisfy the mind’s demand for proof.

Sometimes it asks us to pause when we want to act. Sometimes it nudges us forward when our mind says to wait. Sometimes it gives us a feeling, a knowing, or a quiet instruction that does not make sense until later. That is why discernment matters.

Trusting yourself does not mean accepting every thought, feeling, message, or impression as truth. It does not mean following every voice, sign, or energetic pull without question. True trust includes discernment. It includes humility. It includes knowing that we all have filters, and that even gifted people can misread, misunderstand, or be influenced by something outside of pure divine guidance.

The tendency may be to shut down your intuition. The solution is to heal what caused you to stop trusting it.

Healing

One difficult experience does not erase a lifetime of wisdom. One wrong turn does not mean you are broken. One period of confusion does not mean you are disconnected from God, your soul, or your inner knowing. It means something happened that needs healing.

Part of that healing is recognizing that spiritual interference can be real, but it does not have to define you. It can be addressed. The effects can be cleared. Your relationship with your own guidance can be restored. The goal is not to become perfect. No one is. The goal is to become clearer.

As you heal, your inner knowing often becomes easier to recognize again. It may begin quietly. You may notice it in small decisions before larger ones. You may sense when something feels peaceful instead of pressured. You may learn the difference between fear, ego, outside interference, and true guidance. That process takes patience.

You do not have to force yourself to trust everything all at once. You can rebuild trust one choice at a time. You can begin by noticing what feels aligned in your body. You can ask for divine clarity. You can pause before handing your authority to someone else. You can allow yourself to receive support without abandoning your own discernment.

Your intuition may not always give you the full map. But it can often give you the next right step, and sometimes, that is enough.

If you have struggled to trust yourself after being misled, manipulated, spiritually confused, or energetically interfered with, it does not mean your inner knowing is gone. It may simply be buried beneath fear, disappointment, and self-protection.

Healing is the process of clearing what distorted the connection so you can hear yourself again. Not from fear, pressure, or the need to be certain, but from the quiet place within that remembers truth.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can spiritual interference cause self-doubt?

Yes. Spiritual interference can create confusion, fear, distortion, or disconnection from your own inner knowing. After an experience like that, many people begin questioning themselves, even if they were previously intuitive, discerning, or spiritually aware.

What is spiritual interference?

Spiritual interference refers to unseen energies, influences, or distortions that interfere with a person's clarity, peace, intuition, choices, or connection to God and their own soul. Because it is invisible, many people do not recognize it for what it is and may instead blame themselves.

How do I rebuild trust in my intuition?

Begin with small choices. Notice what feels peaceful, clear, and aligned rather than pressured, fearful, or chaotic. Ask for divine clarity, practice discernment, and avoid giving your authority away to anyone simply because they claim to have spiritual insight.

Can spiritual interference be cleared?

Yes. In my experience as a spiritual healer, the effects of spiritual interference can often be addressed and cleared. The process may include identifying the source of the interference, clearing the energetic impact, restoring divine connection, and helping the person rebuild trust in their own guidance.
